Thanksgiving is upon us, marking the season of food, traditions, and family. With that comes the beloved favorite family recipes we love to make and eat. Those dishes we spend dreaming about all year long as we wait until that lovely Thursday where we get to dig in once again. But why not start a new holiday tradition this year, one that can be passed down for generations to come?
Introducing.. the perfect recipe to do that! It combines a Thanksgiving favorite- ham with a family favorite drink- DOUBLE-COLA, for a delicious dish you're sure to enjoy as a family.
Ingredients:
One 8-10 Pound Bone-In Spiral Ham
1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
1 Can (12oz) of DOUBLE-COLA
1 Can (20 oz) of Sliced Pineapple, drained
2 Tablespoons of Dijon Mustard
1/2 Tsp of Cayenne Pepper
Whole Cloves
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cover the ham tightly in aluminum foil and place in an oven-safe dish.
Bake ham for 30 minutes.
Remove ham from oven. Using whole cloves and toothpicks, secure pineapple slices to the outside of the ham.
To make Glaze:
In a medium-sized saucepan, add brown sugar, DOUBLE-COLA, Dijon mustard, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.
Heat mixture on medium heat until it reaches a boil, stirring continuously
Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened.
When glaze is finished, brush the ham with a layer of glaze getting in between pineapple slices. Continue to bake in oven uncovered.
Repeat brushing of the ham every 15 minutes until the ham is cooked (internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit).
Cut ham into slices and serve with your favorite Thanksgiving day sides. Enjoy!
